ARTIST. HUMORIST.
Humour is the noble ability to embrace the imperfections of existence with a generous smile and to discover traces of perfection even in life’s shadows. True humour is always rooted in appreciation. It grows from the understanding that everything is in constant motion, that every moment is fleeting and nothing lasts forever. I try to live by this philosophy and, in doing so, challenge the so-called seriousness of life. My artworks are an expression of the joy of living and the joy of being. I do not search for images. They seek me out.
FERNER'S WORLD
Variety is the antidote to sameness. Everything begins with a story. Every subject already carries its own character and form – waiting to be revealed. Images, objects, installations, poems, songs, theatre and written words find their expression in bold paintings, delicate lines, poetic observations and sharp caricatures. Some ideas ask to be painted. Others to be sung. And some only emerge through what is left unsaid. The studio has no walls. It is a meeting place and an archive, a workshop and a studio, a laboratory and a space for discovery.

Michael Ferner’s diverse body of work can be encountered in countless ways – in private homes and public collections, hotels and company headquarters, newspapers and art magazines, Land Art projects and public spaces. And sometimes, you may even meet the artist in person while he is touring with his cabaret and theatre productions.
OUR STORY
In the heart of Salzburg, just a short walk from Mirabell Gardens, Galerie M. Ferner – House for Art was created as a place for art, encounters and creative exchange.
Alongside the works of Michael Ferner Are there also works here by Martina Kreuzer, Bernhard Vogel and the Artist duo Jana & JS their place.
Different artistic styles and creative voices come together here – open, vibrant and full of character.
The House for Art is more than a gallery. It is a venue for readings, music and cabaret, as well as a meeting place for artists and visitors in the heart of Salzburg. A place dedicated to shaping a timeless present. A life lived in the moment. From horizon to horizon.
THE IDEA
The House for Art is our passion project. Together with a wonderful team, we see it as both a home for new artistic cycles and a starting point for our extensive exhibition tours.
It serves as a hub for artistic dialogue and an international meeting place for creative minds. Inspiring, vibrant and as exciting as life itself.
